The 19th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition, held in Gulfport, Florida, from April 16-18, 2015 saw splendid performance from the four teams representing India - NLU Jodhpur, NUJS Kolkata, NALSAR Hyderabad and RGNUL Patiala.
Thirteen teams from across the U.S., China, India, Ireland and the Philippines travelled to Stetson Law for the annual competition.
The teams from NLU Jodhpur and NUJS Kolkata finished as quarterfinalists at the tier 2 moot court competition.
NLU Jodhpur was represented by a team comprising of Sagnik Das, Dishi Bhomawat and Arundathi Venkataraman.
Sagnik Das won the best speaker award at the competition while his team mate Arundhati Venkatraman was adjudged as the 4th best oralist. Sagnik had also won the best speaker award at the national rounds of competition at University of Jammu in November last year.
He commented: “The level of competition at the World Rounds was very good. Teams were clearly well prepared and had cleared their own national rounds. They adopted smart strategies as well. As regards our preparation, Stetson is a moot that spans for quite a long duration and so we had been preparing for over one year for the moot.”
“The national rounds happened in November and since qualifying, we focused on doing a number of oral practices, especially because the style of speaking that one must adopt for the national rounds is different from that for the international rounds. We had been doing almost two months of speaking practices before the world rounds in April. The quality of the judges at the moot was pretty decent. They struck the right balance between being grilling, but at the same time being reasonable and allowing you to make out your case properly. Stetson's hospitality was also extremely warm and commendable. It was quite the memorable experience overall.”
Udbhav Tiwari, Sanchith Shivakumar , Savitran Ramesh, Shruti Khetan were part of the NUJS team. NUJS speakers Udbhav Tiwari and Sanchith Shivakumar were declared as the 6th and 9th best oralist respectively.
The teams from NALSAR Hyderabad and RGNUL Patiala, however, did not reach the advanced rounds.
The moot problem, this year, was based on shark finning and trade restrictions. The University of Jammu received the Spirit of Stetson Award, recognizing civility, justice and fair play.
The Mooting Premier League (MPL) 6 sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills standings remain unchanged as of now, with NLU Jodhpur having extended its lead over NLSIU Bangalore and NUJS now sitting in a strong third place ahead of NLU Delhi.

You need a reality check! How is finishing as a quarter finalist in Stetson kicking ass?!
If mooting is so easy then I am sure I am replying to a Jessup winner, so I am really sorry Sir if i have offended your Royal Dumbness.

For further details visit NLUJ website -you well informed person!
Also pardon us if we are don't subscribe to Communist ideas. There is a difference between being inclusive and being communist. We are definitely not the latter. Also, since the inception of MPL we have never finished beyond Top 5, so I think the system is working just fine!
Before you again call someone a 'loser', please get the spelling right!!!
Add CLEA World Rounds!
That every time they make an attack on others, they acquaint themselves with this word!
Grow up or else shut down yourselves.
There is no great value addition from the particular university you come from (NLS,NALSAR,NUJS,NLUD,NLUJ). You have good teachers, you have bad teachers. Some have better classrooms, none have AC in hostel rooms :(. Study hard and get decent grades and you will get placed from any of these institutions, invariably in 'Big 6 law firms' that pay you within a lac or so of each other. No,SHAs, SPAs and DDs are the same in every one of these firms, chill out. The same goes for mooting/debating and whatever else you deem makes a law school stud.
Its the same shit, different city. Calm down.
You are yet to update points for JGLS winning the Best Speaker award at the Frankfurt International Investment Arbitration Moot.
Additionally, we just nailed NLSIAM for a second time in a row. Please update points for that, cheers!
