After a teensy dry spell [many apologies, my fault! -Kian], the Mooting Premier League (MPL) 7 is back with some exciting news in the penultimate update before we confirm the results of the ELSA WTO World Rounds and the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot (IMLAM): the winners and points hauled at the 10th NLSTIAM 2017 moot and the international rounds of the ICC Hague Moot 2017.

Indian Law Schools’ relentless domination of global mooting continued at the Asia Pacific Rounds of Manfred Lachs with NLSIU Bangalore leading the charge, repeating its Indian funding round performance at the international stage.

While our liveblog of Jessup and Vis Vienna has already captured bit by bit the breaks and advances made by the Indian Universities at both moots, read further to know how the performances radically alter the league table standings, as we break it down for our readers.

The Nalsar Hyderabad, NUJS Kolkata and NLSIU Bangalore teams (and possibly others) due to represent India at the Manfred Lachs Asia Pacific Rounds in Adelaide, Australia from 18 - 21 April 2017, have hit a perfect storm of a spike in tourism and visa applications to Australia, coupled with their last-minute qualification to the moot, meaning they have been unable to get their visa in time.

Four Indian teams have made it into the last 64 out of 342 teams at the Willem C Vis Moot in Vienna, according to an update on its Facebook page.

Post some heavy duty performance by the Indian Universities at Stetson and Vis East last week, here’s some desi dose of mooting for our moot court aficionados as we cover the elite Bar Council of India moot 2017 and the newly added NLUO Maritime Arbitration Moot 2017.

Hot on the heels of GNLU’s spectacular win and a strong pan-India performance at the Stetson moot, the Vis East saw India dominate on a global stage, while Symbiosis Pune continued performing strongly on the national stage.

GNLU Gandhinagar delivered a triple whammy, as it almost doubled its MPL scores by amassing 75 points at three different moot courts that have taken place over the last two weekends. It now holds a formidable 49 point lead over SLS Pune, currently in the second position, as Nalsar is pushed to the 3rd position.

Over the last weekend, HNLU Raipur and JGLS Sonepat concluded their flagship moots, while the weekend before, India was represented by NLSIU Bangalore and NUJS Kolkata at the world’s biggest IPR moot hosted by University of Oxford. In the following story we shall be covering the results of HNMCC 2017 and Oxford IPR 2017, as we continue to gather the results of JGLS Technology Law and Policy Moot 2017.

A lot of mooting action took place over the last weekend-and-a-bit, and the MPL table appears very different now than it did two weeks ago.

Despite our last mega-mooting weekend update on Monday, recent mooting action is not yet over.

The weekend of 3-5 March saw each of Amity Law School Delhi, NUJS Kolkata and NLU Jodhpur organize their flagship moots, with over 100 MPL points awarded to multiple law schools that battled it out for MPL glory.

The second edition of the Justice R K Tankha Memorial International Moot Court Competition 2017 (after the moot went international in 2015) saw Symbiosis Pune and Amity Law School Delhi battle it out in the finals.

India’s only Tier II moot, the DM Harish Memorial International Moot Court Competition 2017, saw the revival of MPL VI champion NLU Jodhpur - which had been conspicuously absent since winning the Stetson India rounds.

The 9th edition of the GNLU Gandhinagar International Moot Court Competition 2017 saw last year runners-up Nalsar Hyderabad defeat two-time GIMC winner, George Washington University, as was liveblogged on Legally India by the organisers.
