NLU Jodhpur shuts down for swine flu after student tests positive

NLU Jodhpur was closed on 18 February for 10 days, to protect students from the deadly swine influenza after one final year student of the law school was diagnosed with the virus on 17 February.

The campus was shut down on 18 February until 1 March, but was not evacuated. The administrative staff is still present on campus, confirmed the vice chancellor’s office, when contacted today by Legally India.

The office confirmed that the student who had shown symptoms was tested for the flu at the SN Medical College in Jodhpur and was diagnosed with the deadly virus.

At least 437 people in Jodhpur have tested positive for the swine flu, and the death toll in the city from the flu rose to 47 after two more patients died on 17 February, reported Business Standard.

Nalsar Hyderabad also had a two-day swine flu scare in campus last month, after one student showed symptoms of the virus and the rest were sent for general medical examination at the city government hospital. Everyone at Nalsar was cleared of the virus several days later.
