Well... I agree that NLS is anytime better than NALSAR... but, if you get into anyone of them, nothing comparable to that.

Well... I wanted to know whether the said 20% reservation for AP students in NALSAR is from CLAT 2010 or not?

Thanks!

I don't know if this is one of your considerations but I have seen NALSAR lawyers to be more commercial minded whereas NLS grads are more academically inclined.

what kinda dumb logic is this!!???!!! nalsar has got 4 rhodes scholar in 1o years...doesnt it mean that its students are academically sound!

#485 - I was comparing the average NLS student vs. average NALSAR student.

Are you sure I said 'academically sound' ???

Im from NLS (not that it matters). And I have one thing to say. Get a life. Stop bickering .. This reminds me of the 'my daddy is better than your daddy' fights.

NLS anyday simply because it is more than 20 years old. Every new college will have its good days and bad days. In your first 7-8 years of existence you might be good because u hv a good vc. But that doesnt mean u'll continue to be the best in the next 10 years of existence. Most of the new colleges after NLS hv seen their share of going downhill after coming in with an initial bang.

I am not saying NLS has not had its bad days but at least with NLS u can be sure the college will not change significantly with the change of vice chancellor or change of administration. NLS as a system is old and mature enough to retain its identity even with a change in administration. Nalsar which is barely out of its formative stage has not yet attained the maturity to handle change- this was seen with the departure of their VC Prof Ranbir Singh.

Bottomline is that Nalsar has been on top in the last few years- There's no guarantee they'll be on top tomorrow- They are too young for us to be sure. NLS has been on top for the last twenty years. They will definitely continue being on top (if not the best) for the next 10 years.

anyday??? u must be kidding!!! the myth that nls is number one "anyday" is busted now!! the recent mpl standings testify that...so dont say "anyday"!

Notwithstanding mpl rankings I'd say anyday because the mpl rankings only reflect the mooting performance of colleges this year. I am sure u wont choose a college based on how it performs in moots in one particular year

  • hmm..
I know for a fact that in the current NALSAR first year, about 12 ppl who were in the top 50 ranks of clat, gave NALSAR as their first preference and came here.. they could have easily got NLS..
The scenario is slowly changing..
(Please refer to the NALSAR list of clat 2009 to validate this)

Just because some students giving CLAT preferred Nalsar over NLS it does not mean Nalsar is better. It just shows that many law aspirants writing CLAT are either misinformed or there is plain lack of awareness amongst them .

lack of awareness!!??!!the situation is changing now !! accept the fact...even india today acknowledged the fact in 2008...!!!! the reality is in front of everyone!!!

India Today acknowledged it. But that was when Ranbir Singh, Ghanshyam Singh and co. were implementing their plans in full swing.

With their and other faculty member's departure NALSAR's reputation has taken a hit. Many good faculty too have left. 20% reservation (though makes very little difference) too has been a setback. The successor VC I hear is failing to fit in those huge shoes.

Someone had pointed out the history of competition between NLS/NALSAR/NUJS. I very much concur.

Earlier NLS was THE thing. NALSAR and NUJS soon began to catch up. NALSAR came for a nose to nose finish. But now NLS again is on top. Followed by NALSAR/NUJS. Now again its more of NUJS v. NALSAR than NLS v. NALSAR.

But no one can ignore the brilliant achievements of nalsar in moots and otherwise and of NUJS in the research field. Placements of both the colleges have been as good as NLS. So...good luck to all the colleges. and also to other superb colleges we have in nliu, nluj, gnlu.

thats a moronic argument...just because ranbir singh and ghanshyam singh left the institution u cant say so...nalsar is as good as it was in their times, rather it has got better...it needed a start wich both of dem gave it...like madhav menon gave to nls, now nalsar is on its own...nd it no longer depends on the faculty....even madhav menon left nls to establish nujs, but did it affect NLS?? NO!!

P.S the ap reservation is horizontal and not vertical so it doesnt affect much!

6 months, 1 week ago Re:CLAT preferences : NLS vs. NALSAR #522

  • A valid argument!
NALSAR was a one man show man. Ranbir Singh gave birth to the institution and tended to it till it became big and strong. It still is big and strong but without its caretaker, a bit weak.

NLS and NUJS since their inception had VCs changing in a couple of years and thus don't have such problems.

Its a perfectly valid argument. When great leaders leave, organisations do suffer! As simple as that!

nalsar has a perfect caretaker....veer singh is as good as ranbir singh....come 2 nalsar nd den u'll knw dat nalsar is as good as it used to be!
