Trilegal has promoted five to the first rung of its all-equitylockstep partnership.
The new equity partners are Upasana Rao (Delhi), Aniruddha Sen (Mumbai) and Rohan Ghosh Roy (Mumbai) in corporate, Atul Gupta (Bangalore) in the employment practice and Samsuddha Majumdar (Delhi) in tax.
The new inductions increase the firm’s partnership to 32. The firm recently hired Faraz Alam Sagar, as first reported by Legally India on 1 October.
Trilegal has a 13-yearlockstep, in which partners begin at the bottom and rise in equity stakes year-by-year until they reach the plateau, or maximum profit share, after 13 years.
Update 16:56: Trilegal partner Anand Prasad said in a press release: “We are excited to welcome nine new Partners into Trilegal in less than six months. Notably, seven have been selected from within the firm due to their expertise and excellent track record in advising and servicing our clients in complex matters.
“Our expansion reiterates our commitment to India’s growing and exciting legal services industry and our focus remains strongly on enabling our clients to win in the market place.”
The firm has had senior Shardul Amarchand Delhi partner Ravindra Bandhakavi in April, and promoted two internally in March.
Long-time Trilegal partner Amit Tambe went on an indefinite sabbatical in the same period.

The firm can decide whether or not they should,
You'll soon be partner, wait your turn,
There's no need to sizzle and burn!
Nice poetry. Little complicated - but still nice. Keep it up. Even I can write the poetry. But very simple. In fact I have written many poetries. Want to read? Here is sample. Though not legal - hope Kian will publish. Title is "Autobiography of my first Date."
I took her to hotel - wanting to break barrier of the heart's language;
I crossed legs and snapped fingers at waiter, and ordered one by two chicken sandwich;
her face became white like maida - making me little nervous;
she then told me that she is not carni..., but herbivorous;
I said "chill babes - always first time - don't do the fuss,"
she got very angry and walked away, saying "boy - you've just missed the bus."
Nice no. Little poignant and tragic - but what to do. Your poetry is also nice, but let's see who gets more likes - you or me.
Good thing you didnt order beef sandwich.. then i would have been really upset!
Kian, how is the Trilegal Mumbai doing in Labour & Employment practice?
When I see people (soldiers?) marching in goose-steps it gives me the shivers. Totalitarian.
