J Sagar Associates’ (JSA) partnership will elect seven partners into its executive committee in the coming months, out of whom two will become joint managing partners in an election slated for October.
Managing partner Berjis Desai, who will be retiring and leaving behind his equity in the firm on 1 April 2017, said: “The seven member ex-com (executive committee) will be elected in the next couple of months.
“After the excom is elected, out of the seven members two will be selected by the entire firm [to become joint managing partners].”
He added that there was a “good possibility” that there may not be an election for the excom or the managing partner positions at all, if all candidates run for the positions uncontested and by informal consensus.
The executive committee term will be three years, with managing partners also being elected for three-year terms for a maximum of two consecutive terms.
The joint managing partners would begin taking over from Desai on 1 January 2016, he said.

i predict more problems in the future like partner exits.
The Chudasama effect has resulted in the exodus of 6 partners and 25 associates. More to follow if grapevine to be believed.
Electing Som and Amit ensues that Cyril is unable to convince Amit to head his delhi office. Cyril desperately needs credibility in his delhi office as currently it is full of Amarchand rejects and third tier firm partners. But this quashes that hope. Good move Berg and Jyotz
Electing Som keeps peace in the family!
All in all defensive and demonstrates weakness
