Recruitment At NLIU , Bhopal

An estimated 2-minute read

The past twenty four hours have been buzzing with “”NLIU Bhopal Placement Forecast Bleak”.  In a single page of much discussed piece of “news”, a lot has been claimed and quoted and well, slammed on the University.

Out of a batch of 82 students from the graduating year 2014, 34 appeared for recruitments.  Out of these, ten have already been placed on day zero itself.  That makes it almost 30% on the first day itself.  Out of the ten students, eight were placed with Amarchand itself and this number is higher than most other law schools who’ve already had their day zero for the batch of 2014.These, are numbers for you.

As for quoting and “sources”, there were no declaratory statements made by the Student Co-ordinator or the Faculty Co-ordinator, Dr. Raka Arya because it is hardly sensible to release any information or data till the entire process of recruitment is finished, results are out and concrete offers have been made to the students. This is the standard practice across all law schools and NLIU, Bhopal is no different. So in a situation like this , when the persons in-charge have not provided with any statistics, claims like “two out of eight are expected to walk away with offers” are either just gossip or an attempt at creating an image of the university. With assertions of only few recruiters turning up, what is forgotten is that recruitment is a year-long process, and with other organizations in the pipe line (No questions were asked about that ), all the golden words just make a nice smoke screen. This is hardly expected from some articles that claims to “present news”.

There have been past reports about the placement scenario at NLIU, Bhopal, wherein there is at least some analysis of the situation and atleast no “predictions”. (Read here : http://www.legallyindia.com/201205082799/Law-schools/nliu-2012-batch-31-jobs-across-amarchand-icici-lpos-as-judiciary-proves-popular ) The article presently, offers no explanation for number of students appearing for the Civil services or the Judicial services examinations, clearly showing a lack of credible research and a quick attempt at posting an article. Are activities other than placement less important for the legal fraternity? So in the end, the only source it does offer is a “student who does not wish to be named”. And that just adds to the whole charm of trying to add some credibility to the article. And clearly, it fails miserably.
