"Perhaps for the first time in Indian legal history, a 55-cm TV and two loudspeakers were on Wednesday placed just outside the main High Court building telecasting proceedings against two Madurai-based Bar leaders for nearly 40 minutes," reported The New Indian Express.
The Hindu added that due to the sensitivity of the contempt proceedings against the advocates, the court:
came under the guard of over 500 State police personnel lead by Additional Commissioner of Police Ravikumar, assisted by three Joint Commissioners, 10 Deputy Commissioners and 20 Assistant Commissioners.
The Calcutta high court made history in July by allowing a proceeding to be video recorded, though this was not broadcast live anywhere but merely kept as a record for the court.
