DSK likes Pune better than expected: Moves to double-size office there on back of booming corporate work

DSK Legal has doubled its office space in Pune within six months of opening up in the city, on the back of new large local corporate client accounts.

The firm, which opened up in Pune in a 700 square feet Connaught Road office near the city’s railway station without any full-time Pune based staff, has now moved to a 1200 square feet space in the Power Point building in the Koregaon Park commercial complex, near AZB & Partners’ Pune office.

Pune head and Mumbai corporate partner Narendra Dingankar told Legally India that while he and a manager in the Mumbai office will continue shuttling between Mumbai and Pune, there are four other retainers who permanently work from the Pune office now.

He noted: “I think one of the biggest things we have seen is the general level of excitement in the large corporates that [DSK Legal] a Bombay solicitor firm is just a call away. The number of corporates who want to associate with us locally has significantly gone up. We’ve built a lot of relationships because [there’s a demand for] some higher degree of professionalism.”

“We now have local dominant players as well as the multinational corporations [among our clients in Pune],” he claimed and that the firm has added IT and auto sector companies as clients in the region and hope to grow in the engineering and manufacturing sector as well.

When the firm opened up in Pune in June, it was servicing clients primarily in the real estate and the brick-and-mortar sector; co-founding partner Satish Kishanchandani had commented that since big corporate clients came to the Mumbai office instead of Pune, there wasn’t a need for a big space in the city.
