NLSIU takes 13 MPL points after bested by HNLU in BR Sawhney Moot

HNLU Raipur has won the 8th Nalsar Justice Bodh Raj Sawhney Memorial Moot Court Competition 2014, besting NLSIU Bangalore.

Anandapadmanabhan Unnikrishnan of NLSIU bagged the best speaker citation while the best memorial award went to RGNUL Patiala.

The teams from ILS Pune and Institute of Law Nirma University (ILNU) were the other two semi-finalists at the Tier 5 Moot.

A total of 24 moots participated in the competition, with 37 teams participating in the memorial rounds.

The Sawhney moot brought ILS into the top three of the rankings of the Mooting Premier League (MPL) 6, sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills, displacing RMLNLU Lucknow.

Last year’s MPL winner NLSIU Bangalore boosted its score in MPL 6 above 20, winning 13 points from this moot.

However, NLU Delhi still sits atop the rankings with a current lead by a mile with 70 points, after its win at the Tier 1 Manfred Lachs moot earlier this month.

Nalsar Hyderabad entered the rankings with 1 point for organising the moot.

Additional research by Saksham Dwivedi. Other moots, such as Amity International Moot Court Competition, to be updated shortly.
