Breaking: Compat now defunct without chairman and members

The Competition Appellate Tribunal (Compat) is now without a chairman and members after its chairman and ex-Supreme Court Justice VS Sirpurkar and member Rahul Sarin retired yesterday, several weeks after its only other member Pravin Tripathi had retired.

Tripathi, whose tenure was due to end on 31 December according to her profile on COMPAT, is now not listed as a member on the tribunal’s website which mentions a “member (vacant)” in her place.

According to an authoritative source Sirpurkar and Sarin retired earlier this week.

Compat deputy registrar GK Sharma was not reachable for comment since this morning.

Without members, the Compat is unable to hear appeals of Competition Commission of India (CCI) decisions.
