JSA promotes 9 to salaried partner, bulk in Mumbai

J Sagar Associates (JSA) has today promoted nine of its lawyers to its salaried partnership across Delhi, Gurgaon and Mumbai, including three former AZB & Partners associates.

In Delhi Vibha Dhawan (who began her career with senior advocate AS Chandhiok) was promoted.

In Gurgaon two lawyers were promoted:

Smita Singh (who specialises in indirect tax and graduated from Delhi University in 2003 and joined JSA from Khaitan & Co in 2009), and

  • Sujoy Bhatia (Amity Law School LLB 2004, University College London LLM 2005, associate at P&A Law Offices and Ashurst until joining JSA in 2011).

Mumbai saw six partner promotions with:

  • Ashni Roy (Mumbai University degree in economics 2002, LLB Mumbai University 2006, joined JSA from AZB).
  • Vikrant Patwardhan (Jitendra Chavan College of Law 2004 after nine years as a preventive officer at the Indian Customs, beginning working at JSA in 2006 until 2011, followed by a one-and-a-half-year stint at Amarchand Mangaldas before rejoining JSA),
  • Uttara Kolhatkar (1993 history degree from Lady Shri Ram College from Delhi University, a 1996 LLB GLC Mumbai, beginning her career as an advocate in Mumbai, qualified as a Bombay solicitor in 2000 and an English solicitor in 2011, having joined JSA from Crawford Bayley),
  • Smita Singh

    Gautam Gandotra (Pune University 2004 LLB, LLM from NYU in 2008, having joined from AZB where he was a senior associate),
  • Arka Mukherjee (had joined JSA after graduating from University of Pune in 2006), and
  • Shailesh Shukla (University of Mumbai 1995-graduate who joined from AZB & Partners).

Today, the following firms have also announced their partnership promotions:
