Trilegal advised the Tata Group’s power utility Tata Power in buying AES Saurashtra wind farms from the US-based private power producer AES Corporation which was advised by Desai & Diwanji.
Trilegal Delhi partner Charandeep Kaur with senior associates Ramakant Rai and Anuja Tiwari and associates Moksha Bhat and Megha Kaladharan acted for Tata which, according to the Economic Times, is estimated to have bought the wind farms unit for Rs 150 crore ($24m).
Desai & Diwanji partners Vaibhav Shukla in Mumbai and Joebin Devassy in Delhi with infrastructure partner Madhavan Srivatsan acted for AES whose 39.2MW Gujarat-based unit was acquired, as reported by the Hindu Businessline. They were assisted by senior associate Nikhil Sachdeva and associates Amanjot Malhi and CV Srikant.
Tata Power has decided to put on hold its thermal power expansion plans in India, according to the ET report, and aims to have 20 to 25 per cent of its power generation in the form of clean energy, according to the Businessline.
