ALMT & Clasis work together to separate Alcatel Lucent-Bharti Airtel JV

ALMT Legal advised telecom major Bharti Airtel in buying out its foreign joint venture (JV) partner Alcatel Lucent India, advised by ALMT breakaway firm Clasis Law.

ALMT Mumbai partner Ryna Karani and Delhi partner Tushar Chawla with associate Tanvi Sinha acted for Bharti Airtel in acquiring Alcatel Lucent's 2009 stake in the Alcatel Lucent Network Management India Services JV company.

According to Hindu Businessline, Airtel had outsourced management of its fixed line and broadband services to the JV.

Clasis Law Delhi partner Vineet Aneja with senior associates Mohit Sharma and Rachna Khanna acted for Alcatel Lucent India. Aneja said that Alcatel Lucent had been a client since 2010, and that the firm had also advised Alcatel in its similar JV with Reliance Communications.

Clasis Law had broken away from ALMT Legal in April 2011, continuing its best friendship with UK-headquartered firm Clyde & Co.
