BMR Legal, S&R roast $20m PE for Barbeque Nation

BMR’s latest recruit, Amit Khansaheb, seals second deal at consultancy’s legal arm.
BMR’s latest recruit, Amit Khansaheb, seals second deal at consultancy’s legal arm.

BMR Legal advised Indian restaurant chain Barbeque Nation Hospitality in getting funding of Rs 110 crore ($20m) from CX Partners, which was advised by S&R Associates.

BMR partner Amit Khansaheb with managing associate Vishruta Kaul and senior associate Ramanuj Basu acted for the Sayaji Hotels’ subsidiary. This deal was Khansaheb’s second major closing at the legal services arm of the BMR Advisors consultancy, since joining from Desai & Diwanji in January.

Last month he had advised Templeton Fund IV’s $13m investment into Globus Spirits opposite Vaish Associates and Crawford Bayley.

Khansaheb told Legally India that he enjoyed a historical relationship with the deal’s bankers, O3 Capital, and that he was expecting to close a number of deals this year across the private equity and M&A spectrum.

S&R Associates partner Uday Walia with associates Vivek Kumar and Amy Bharucha acted for CX Partners, which bought close to 15 lakh shares equalling 12.89 per cent equity in BNHL through this investment, according to Sayaji Hotels’ BSE announcement.
