Chennai-based start-up Vichar Partners has advised Sree Ramcides Chemicals on its Yen 1,495 million (Rs 98 crore) acquisition by Japanese company SDS Biotech KK, which was advised by Alliance Legal and Jones Day.

Vichar co-founder Aarthi Sivanandh, together with associates Lavanya Kirthivasan and Deepthi Agheda advised the target company and its promoters.

“Metis, the family office advisors based in Chennai, requested our assistance on this transaction,” explained Sivanandh about the origin of the instruction.

Alliance co-founding partner Ravi Kumar with associates Siddharth Sharma and Mini Kapoor acted for the Japanese company, which has agreed to acquire 65 per cent of the Chennai company by January 2013, reported the Times of India.

Jones Day Tokyo partner Eric Sedlak provided non-Indian law advice to SDS.

It is understood that Jones Day had referred the instruction to Alliance, whose three co-founders are currently in the process of separating, Legally India reported last week.

The exiting Sree Ramcides private equity investor, ePlanet Ventures, instructed Bangalore-headquartered firm Narasappa Doraswamy & Raja partner Siddharth Raja.
