Exclusive: Delhi-based legal process outsourcing (LPO) firm Lex Forska Solutions LLP is becoming an LPO-cum-law firm also catering to domestic clients after entering into an exclusive referral alliance with Silicon Valley immigration boutique Shah Peerally Law Group PC.

Lex Forska was set up in 2009 as an LPO, operates as a limited liability partnership (LLP) and consists of three partners and four associates but the firm would now also begin to provide Indian law services to domestic clients under the banner Lex Forska Law Offices, said the firm’s managing partner Priya Chauhan.

“We figured that we already have an expertise in Indian law, we should also concentrate on a domestic market and also focus on Indian law,” she said. “Most lawyers we hire are well trained in Indian law.”

Lex Forska as a law firm will be focusing primarily on immigration law and intellectual property (IP) work, while as an LPO it has assisted US companies primarily on IP and patents-related work while for UK companies the firm also provided legal drafting and research services, explained Chauhan.

Both the LPO and the law firm would co-exist in the same LLP entity with all lawyers being enrolled with Indian bar councils.

“The work we are planning to get is mainly from corporations which are located in the NCR region. Many corporates have immigration-related work and many consultants require immigration related work. We are focusing on all the corporations related to business law as well,” added Chauhan.

Lex Forska as a law firm has now also entered into a memorandum of understanding establishing an exclusive referral relationship with Newark-based three-lawyer immigration boutique Shah Peerally Law Group PC, which focuses almost exclusively on immigration work for information technology companies and individuals.

Managing attorney Shah Peerally (pictured) said: “80 per cent of my clients are from the South Asia and most of them are Indian. Lately we have been getting issues that are cross border and that need lawyers in India. Priya is sending immigration my way and we are sending anything legal to India – anything.”

However, although they would not be working with any other law firms in the respective jurisdictions, he and Chauhan added that there was no profit sharing between the firms and they were careful to comply with all Indian bar rules.
