Luthra & Luthra has promoted recent London returnee Manan Lahoty to partner in its Mumbai capital markets practice.
Lahoty (pictured) joined Luthra & Luthra in May 2009 from Shearman & Sterling in London as a group head to lead the firm's Mumbai capital markets team.
He said that coming back to India has been very exciting.
"I saw high-growth potential in Luthra Mumbai," he said. "Over the last six months we have more than doubled our bandwidth in our Mumbai capital markets group and our clients have received us well.
"I have been very pleased with the progress and am delighted to have been made up."
He added that as a partner he would continue his commitment to expanding the firm's presence, and especially in Mumbai there was opportunity for expanding the capital markets team further.
Delhi-based capital markets partner Madhurima Mukherjee heads up the national capital markets practice of around 20 lawyers.
Commenting on Lahoty's promotion she said: "It is well deserved and expected. This further strengthens and consolidates our capital markets practice."
Luthra & Luthra's capital markets team is currently ranked third in Legally India's initial public offering (IPO) league table this financial year, having advised on seven IPOs until the end of November, with several more in the pipeline.
