Amarchand Mangaldas has promoted eight principal associates to partnership in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, hired White & Case associate Raghubir Menon as a partner and promoted Irish competition lawyer Paku Khan as a partner-equivalent director.
In Delhi the firm promoted principal associates Mrinal Kumar, Puja Sondhi, Pankaj Agarwal, Shilpa Mankar and Shailaja Lall to salaried partnership, according to Amarchand sources.
Principal associates Gurpreet Ashar and Alice George in Mumbai and Namrata Kolar in Bangalore were also made partners.
White & Case associate Menon re-joined Amarchand Mangaldas after having first worked there in 2001.
Six are graduates of NLSIU Bangalore, with Kolar having passed out in 1999, George in 1997, Ashar in 2003, Mankar in 2002, Sondhi in 2002 and Menon in 2001.
The total number of partners at the firm stands at 58 now.
Khan, who was hired from Irish corporate law firm A&L Goodbody as director in Amarchand Delhi competition law practice in 2009, has been elevated to a partner-level equivalent position, although his job title remains director because he is a foreign qualified lawyer.
It is understood that last weekend on 1 and 2 October Amarchand held a national partners’ meeting in Mumbai to present the outcome of the firm’s second Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) review, which in particular aims to improve the managements’ coordination between the Delhi and Mumbai offices and further professionalise the firm’s set-up.
It is understood that the results and findings will be rolled out in phases over the coming months.
Amarchand’s managing partners were unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
In April of last year Amarchand promoted only three associates internally to partner.

Why don't you go debate, that's pretty much the only thing NLS manages these days.

R u out of your mind?
If anyone can think of a close second law school, then we can have the debate. Otherwise let us talk of other things.
Unfortunately for your convenience, we cannot change the passing year of 1st batch of other colleges.
No wander this is the reason I suppose why ppl coming to NLS these days are so dumb. God give them some sense.
Must be a Noojie. Go start up!
Thanks, but no thanks.
these were also 'startups'.
go back to your glorified slavery.
You live up to your nick name.. The first batch of NALSAR passed out in 2003.. and many of them were recruited by national law firms..

Dude.. I'm done with today's work.. Thank you for the clarification.. Your explanation was of much help.. I agree with you that, most partners from NLS are 2002 and pre 2002 batches and I will wait for another 2-3 years before commenting. But please do not make sweeping statements that "first batch of NALSAR passed out in 2005" in a public forum like this (basically do your research properly). I encourage you to post your reply, if any, after your office hours. Sleep tight..
